Saudi eVisa Application Mistakes: The Errors We See Every Week

Most Saudi eVisa delays are not bad luck - they are small, preventable errors made in a hurry. The mistakes our checkers catch every week, and how to avoid every one of them.

At a glance
  • Your application is checked against your passport exactly as written - one wrong character can stall it
  • A typo in your email address is a top cause of 'my visa never arrived'
  • Every mistake on the common list is fixable for free before submission - few are fixable after
  • Never run two applications in parallel through different agents

Why small errors matter so much

A Saudi eVisa application is compared against your passport exactly as written - by software first, and by an officer when anything looks off. A single wrong character in a passport number, a name in the wrong order, or a photo that nearly meets the rules can stall a file that should have sailed through, and some errors cannot be corrected after submission at all.

The good news: almost every delay we see traces back to the same short list of mistakes, and every one of them is preventable in minutes.

The mistakes, one by one

These are the errors our document check catches most often - roughly in the order we catch them:

  • Passport number typed from memory or with a letter O where a zero belongs
  • Name spelled differently from the passport's machine-readable zone, or first and family names swapped
  • An old, filtered or scanned-from-print photograph instead of a fresh one on a white background
  • Applying with a passport that has less than six months of validity left
  • A typing error in the email address - the application succeeds, but the eVisa is delivered to an address that is not yours
  • A blurry or cropped scan of the passport's photo page
  • Applying on the wrong basis - for example as a resident when the permit has under three months left
  • Running a second application in parallel through another agent or portal
  • Choosing the wrong visa type for the trip - including planning Hajj travel on a tourist visa
  • Ignoring a request for further documents until the file is closed

If you have already made one

Before submission, every mistake on that list is fixable at no cost - it is exactly what a pre-submission check is for. After submission the picture changes: some details cannot be amended at all, and the authority may query the file or refuse it. If you realise you have made an error, tell us before you do anything else - and do not quietly submit a second application, which usually makes the tangle worse, not better.

The two-minute habit that prevents all of them

Before you submit anything, open your passport at the photo page and compare the form against the two machine-readable lines at the bottom, character by character - name order, spelling, passport number, dates. Then read your email address aloud once. Those two minutes are the difference between the fast lane and the slow one, and they are why applications we check are decided without the back-and-forth.

Common questions

I typed my passport number wrong and already submitted. What now?

Tell us straight away. Some details cannot be amended after submission, and the honest options depend on your route - but a second blind application almost always makes things worse, so get advice before spending again.

Can a photo really get an application refused?

Yes - the photo is the most common single cause of delay and refusal we see. A fresh, plain-white-background photo taken for this application is the cheapest insurance there is.

Does a document check slow my application down?

By hours at most, and it removes the errors that cost days. Files we check are decided without the query-and-resubmit cycle that unchecked files often go through.
