The Insurance Inside Your Saudi eVisa: What It Covers and What It Doesn't
Your Saudi eVisa fee includes mandatory medical insurance, arranged by the Kingdom. What that policy actually does, how you receive it, and when you should still buy cover of your own.
- The official eVisa fee includes the mandatory medical insurance - it is not an add-on
- The policy is issued with your visa by the appointed insurer
- It is medical cover for the trip - not cancellation, baggage or general travel insurance
- Keep the policy document with your visa and passport while you travel
Why insurance is part of the visa
Saudi Arabia requires visitors to hold medical insurance for their trip. On the eVisa route this is not something you arrange separately: the official fee includes the mandatory medical policy, and the policy is issued alongside your visa by the appointed insurer. It is one of the reasons the official fee is what it is - you are paying for a visa and a medical policy together.
What it covers
The policy is medical cover for your time in the Kingdom. Its core purpose is emergency treatment: if you are injured or fall seriously ill during your trip, the policy is there so that hospital care in Saudi Arabia does not become a financial emergency of its own. Carry the policy document with your visa - hospitals will ask for both, with your passport.
What it does not cover
It is medical insurance for the trip, not general travel insurance. As a rule it does not cover:
- Trip cancellation, curtailment or missed flights
- Lost, stolen or delayed baggage
- Routine treatment, check-ups and pre-existing conditions managed at home
- Anything outside the policy's own terms and period - it is tied to your trip, not a year of worldwide cover
How you receive it, and using it
Your policy is delivered with your eVisa documents - keep both on your phone and carry a printed copy. If you need treatment, present your passport, visa and policy at the hospital, and contact the insurer using the details on the policy as soon as you reasonably can. If we handled your application, message us as well: we will help you find the policy details and the right contact if you are dealing with enough already.
Should you buy your own policy as well?
If you want cancellation and baggage cover, or you travel with a pre-existing condition you want covered, yes - take a personal travel policy on top. The bundled medical insurance satisfies the visa requirement either way; the extra policy is about your own peace of mind, not the application's.
Common questions
Do I need to buy insurance separately for a Saudi eVisa?
No - the mandatory medical policy is included in the official fee and issued with your visa. You only need your own policy if you want wider cover, such as cancellation or baggage protection.
Where is my insurance policy?
It is delivered with your eVisa documents. If we handled your application and you cannot find it, message us and we will resend the documents.
Does the included insurance cover pre-existing conditions?
It is emergency medical cover for the trip under the insurer's terms. If you need cover for a pre-existing condition, take a personal travel policy that includes it.
