Saudi 1-Year Multiple-Entry Visa for UAE Residents: How It Works

Saudi 1-Year Multiple-Entry Visa for UAE Residents: How It Works

If you live in the UAE, the Saudi tourist eVisa you qualify for is already a one-year, multiple-entry visa. Who qualifies, what multiple entry really allows, and the two limits that catch people out.

At a glance
  • UAE residents qualify through the GCC-resident route - residency, not nationality, opens it
  • The visa issued is one year, multiple entry, up to 90 days per visit
  • Stays across the year are capped at 180 days in total
  • Passport needs 6+ months and the Emirates ID 3+ months at application

The short answer

If you hold UAE residency, you do not apply for a special multiple-entry product. You apply for the standard Saudi tourist eVisa through the GCC-resident route, and the visa issued is valid for one year with multiple entries. That is true whatever your passport - the route runs on your residency, not your nationality.

Each visit can last up to 90 days, and you may come and go as often as you like while the visa is valid. Two limits sit underneath: your stays across the year may not add up to more than 180 days, and the visa itself cannot be extended.

Who qualifies from the UAE

You need a passport valid for at least six months and UAE residency - your Emirates ID - valid for at least three months at the time you apply. Your profession no longer decides eligibility; that condition was removed, and applications are assessed on the passport and residency documents.

Eligibility follows the individual traveller. A spouse or child who also holds UAE residency applies the same way, on their own passport; a family member visiting you in the UAE on a tourist visa does not qualify through your residency.

What to prepare

The application asks for your passport, a recent photograph on a plain white background, and your residency details. The photograph causes more delays than anything else - it must be a proper passport-style photo, not a selfie or a scan of an old visa photo.

Apply with the passport you will actually travel on. If you renew your passport during the visa's year, the eVisa stays attached to the old passport number, so carry both passports or apply again.

Using the year well

Multiple entry suits how people in the UAE actually travel: a Riyadh weekend, a Jeddah break, Umrah in Ramadan, a concert or a football match - one visa covers all of it, including entry by road through the Al Batha crossing on the drive towards Riyadh.

Umrah is permitted on this visa outside the Hajj season; you book your Umrah and Rawdah slots in the Nusuk app after the visa is issued. Hajj itself is never covered - it has its own official route.

The mistakes we see

Applying when the Emirates ID has under three months left is the most common failure - renew the residency first, then apply. The second is counting the 90 days loosely: the limit is per stay, and overstaying a stay is not cured by the visa still being valid.

Finally, if you change jobs and your residency is cancelled and reissued, check your position before travelling. The visa was granted against a residency that has changed, and the safe move is a fresh application on the new residency.

Common questions

Do I choose single or multiple entry when I apply?

There is nothing to choose. The tourist eVisa issued to eligible applicants, including GCC residents, is a one-year multiple-entry visa by default.

Can I enter Saudi Arabia by road from the UAE?

Yes. The eVisa is valid at land borders as well as airports, including the Al Batha crossing used for the drive towards Riyadh.

My Emirates ID expires in two months. Can I still apply?

Not safely - residency must be valid for at least three months when you apply. Renew the residency first, then apply for the visa.
