Saudi Visa for Pakistani Citizens: The Routes That Actually Work
A Pakistani passport alone is not on the Saudi eVisa list - but Pakistanis reach Saudi Arabia every day. The four real routes, including the Gulf-residency one most UAE-based Pakistanis qualify for.
- A Pakistani passport alone is not eVisa-eligible - beware any site selling one against it
- GCC residency (UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman) opens the eVisa route
- A used US, UK or Schengen visa opens assessment for visa on arrival
- Family visits run on a host-sponsored invitation started inside Saudi Arabia
First, the honest answer
Pakistan is not one of the 72 countries whose passport holders can apply for the Saudi tourist eVisa directly, and no agent can change that. If a website offers to sell you a 'Saudi eVisa for Pakistani citizens' against the passport alone, close the tab - that product does not exist, and the refusal or worse happens at the airport, not at checkout.
What does exist are four genuine routes, and most Pakistani travellers qualify for at least one of them.
Route 1: you live in the Gulf
If you hold residency in the UAE or another GCC country, your residency - not your passport - opens the eVisa. Passport valid six months, residency valid three months, and the profession condition that used to block applications no longer applies. This is the route most UAE-based Pakistanis use, and it produces the standard one-year, multiple-entry tourist eVisa.
The same logic covers family: a spouse or child qualifies through their own residency, not through yours.
Route 2: a used US, UK or Schengen visa
Hold a valid visit visa for the US, the UK or a Schengen state, and have actually travelled on it at least once? You are assessed for a Saudi visa on arrival. The 'used once' condition is the whole ballgame - a fresh, unused visa opens nothing. Because the final decision happens at the border, treat this as a real route but not a risk-free one, and have your documents in order before you fly.
Routes 3 and 4: sponsored visits and Umrah
Visiting family or friends in the Kingdom? Your host in Saudi Arabia sponsors a family or personal visit visa - they start the invitation on their side, and your application attaches to it. Business visits work the same way through the inviting company. These visas are applied for in advance and are the correct route for long family stays.
For Umrah, pilgrims travel on the dedicated Umrah route through approved channels and the Nusuk platform. And if you are going to Saudi Arabia to work, that is an employment visa led entirely by your Saudi employer - it is never something you buy or apply for yourself.
Common questions
Can Pakistanis get a Saudi eVisa?
Not on the passport alone - Pakistan is not on the 72-country list. Pakistanis qualify through GCC residency, through a used US, UK or Schengen visa at the border, through a sponsored visit visa, or through the Umrah system.
I live in Dubai on a work visa. Which route is mine?
The GCC-resident route. With a passport valid six months and UAE residency valid three months, you apply for the standard tourist eVisa - one year, multiple entries.
Can I visit my brother in Riyadh?
Yes - on a family visit visa that your brother sponsors from inside Saudi Arabia. He obtains the approved invitation first; your application attaches to it.
